The brief was to create a professional multi-purpose cleaning van capable of handling several different services without sacrificing valuable working space.

The vehicle needed to provide:

• A professional window cleaning system
• On-board water filtration
• Twin-operator capability
• Dedicated hose management
• Pressure washing capability
• Safe storage for poles and equipment
• Space remaining for additional cleaning equipment
• A durable, easy-to-maintain van interior
• A layout designed around daily commercial use
• Ongoing servicing and technical support after the build

Rather than fitting equipment wherever space was available, the entire van needed to be considered as one complete working system.

Every part of the installation was planned around how Walkers Cleaning & Support Services would actually use the vehicle.

One of the most important parts of the project was retaining usable load space.

The main equipment was therefore positioned towards the bulkhead, keeping the centre and rear of the vehicle as open as possible.

This gives the operators straightforward access to the equipment while still allowing the van to carry additional tools, cleaning machines and consumables.

It also means the vehicle is not restricted to one task.

It has been created as a genuine multi-service cleaning vehicle.

At the heart of the installation is a professional Lanceman reach-and-wash system, designed for commercial window cleaning applications.

The system incorporates a substantial on-board water supply together with professional filtration, pumping and control equipment.

Twin operator functionality allows two members of the team to work from the same vehicle when required, increasing productivity on larger contracts.

The installation includes:

• 650-litre water system

The objective was to make the system simple for the operator: arrive on site, connect the equipment and get to work.

Two commercial hose reels provide the reach required for larger sites while allowing the operators to work independently.

The reels can be removed and positioned outside the vehicle when required, giving the cleaning team greater flexibility around buildings and larger commercial premises.

When travelling, the equipment can be secured safely inside the van.

This approach also keeps the rear working area uncluttered instead of permanently filling the doorway with fixed reels.

Walkers also required the vehicle to support their pressure washing operation.

A professional Lanceman pressure washer was incorporated into the build, creating a vehicle capable of supporting both pure-water window cleaning and pressure washing from one platform.

This gives Walkers additional capability for applications including:

• Commercial window cleaning
• Building exterior cleaning
• Hard-surface cleaning
• Pathways and paved areas
• Wash-down work
• General external cleaning contracts

The pressure washing installation was positioned so that it remained accessible without compromising the main window cleaning equipment.

Storage can often become an afterthought in commercial van builds.

For this project it formed part of the original design.

A dedicated overhead stainless-steel pole storage system was installed, allowing long reach-and-wash poles and associated equipment to be stored safely above the main load area.

This has several advantages.

It protects expensive poles during transport, keeps equipment organised and, most importantly, leaves valuable floor space available.

Additional storage areas were also incorporated around the installation for tools, fittings and everyday consumables.

The result is a van where everything has a place without turning the vehicle into a fixed equipment room.

The equipment installation was supported by the vehicle preparation and fit-out capabilities of CLB Fleet Fit.

The van received a professional interior designed to cope with the demands of a commercial cleaning vehicle.

The build included elements such as:

Combining the vehicle work and cleaning equipment installation meant the complete project could be designed together rather than having several separate companies working around each other's installations.

Rather than supplying a generic off-the-shelf package, the equipment was selected and positioned specifically for this vehicle and its intended workload.
